Adult helping boy with his life jacketSummer is THE time to hang out by the pool or enjoy one of Arizona's beautiful lakes.  While water safety is important year-round, summer is also the perfect time of year to learn more about keeping your children safe around water.

Online resources to help you!​

Phoenix Fire offers tips on pool, bathtub and bucket safety as well as water safety while on vacation.   You can also download their water safety brochure.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission's Pool Safely website offers pool and spa  safety videos for adults and a Kids Corner with games featuring Splish & Splash.

Phoenix Children's Hospital provides a wealth of information on water safety, including age- specific water safety brochures.

The City of Phoenix Parks & Recreation Department offers a number of free programs for children of all ages that promote water safety as well as low-cost swimming classes for children at a variety of skill levels.  Registration begins in early May; classes begin June 3. 

The American Red Cross offers a wide variety of classes in first aid, CPR, AED, life guarding and swimming including self-study classes online.

If you live in Maricopa County and have children 6 or younger living in the home, you may be eligible for a pool fence free of charge.  Applicants must meet other specific conditions, including demonstrating financial need.  Applications are available in English and Spanish from Save R Kids
