Create! zine is the brainchild of a group of teens dedicated to writing and the arts - the Phoenix
Public Library Teen Council. About two years ago,
one of the members, Jessica Nelson, brought up
the idea of a zine written for and by Phoenix teens.
Good ideas always take a while to come to fruition,
and now Jessica's vision is becoming reality.
In order to get the word out about Create!, the Phoenix Public Library Teen Council held an art and writing contest for teens. The contest worked - we
received hundreds of entries from teens all over the Valley. The contest consisted of four categories - art, writing, poetry and photography. It was difficult to select winners from all the talented work that we received. Special thanks to our judges, Bob Rink photography), Linda Sauer (poetry and writing), and Clay Shanks (art), for volunteering their expertise and enthusiasm towards the contest.
We hope you that Create! inspires you to pick up a pen, a brush, or a camera.
If you would like to submit something for upcoming editions of Create!,
check out our submission guidelines. Thanks again for making Create!
a wonderful symbol of the creative ability of Phoenix teens.
