Create! 'zine Submissions Guidelines

Send us your articles, short stories, poems, artwork, photography and reviews of books, music or movies. Let your imagination run wild! All submissions will be considered for upcoming editions of Create! If you don't see your work in the next edition, it still may be published in a later edition or on the Phoenix Public Library's teen website. To submit your work:

• You must be 12 to 18 years old.
• If you are under the age of 18, you must have your parent or legal guardian sign a release form and submit it with your work.
• Include your name, address/city/state/zip, telephone number and your age on each of your submissions.
• For writing entries, we prefer typed work but handwriting is okay if it's legible.
• Keep profanity and violence to a minimum. If violence and profanity are integral to your work, do not go overboard.
• All creative works must be original.

The guidelines below list specific information about submitting fiction/non-fiction writing, poetry, and artwork/photography to Create!.

Fiction/Non-fiction Writing
Create! accepts all forms of writing including, but not limited to: general fiction, romance, mystery, westerns, fantasy, science fiction, essays, commentaries, and non-fictional essays. Even if your writing doesn't fit into one of these categories, still send it in.

• Be sure to give your work a title.
• Keep your work to fewer than 3,000 words.
• If your work is more than 500 words, please provide us with a hard copy of your piece and a copy on diskette (IBM compatible).
• Your writing may be edited. Edited work may be published in Create! without your prior knowledge or approval.

Poetry
Poetry can be any length or style, and feel free to enter more than one poem if you have others.

• Be sure to give your poem a title
• If your work is more than 500 words, please provide us with a hard copy of your piece and a copy on diskette (IBM compatible).
• Your writing may be edited. Edited work may be published in Create! without your prior knowledge or approval.

Artwork/Photography
Submit your paintings, drawings, sculptures, graphic animations, black and white or color photographs to Create! If you think it is art, enter it here!

• Label your work by putting your name, address/city/state/zip, telephone number and your age on the back of each submission.
• If you do not want to submit your original piece, you can make a good copy of your work and send it in, or mail or drop off a diskette (IBM compatible) containing a digital picture of the work.
• Please realize that although we will try to protect your work from harm, we cannot guarantee that it will not be damaged accidentally.
• Please note that we do not usually return submissions, unless special arrangements have been made.
