To the Mountaintop
February is African American History Month.  First celebrated as Negro History Week in 1925, the month-long celebration has grown to pay "tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society."

Learn more about it and explore additional resources at The Library of Congress or choose from our selection below.

For a more "artistic" perspective, visit "Everyone Could Use a Hero" - an exhibit of portraits by T.M. Noël in charcoal, graphite and oil of Martin Luther King, Jr., Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Malcolm X, Tupac Shakur and others.  The exhibit runs through March 22 at Burton Barr Central Library's @Central Gallery.
