Returning Materials

Materials can be returned to any Phoenix Public Library Branch location. The Phoenix Public Library makes every effort to assure that users' records are accurate and that materials that have been returned to the Library are appropriately checked in.

*Avoid fees - Use the bookdrop! After Library hours you can use the outside bookdrop to return your materials. Any items returned in the bookdrop before opening the next day will be checked in as if they were returned on the previous day.

Library users may request a search for a specific cataloged title or titles which they claim to have returned, or which they believe they never checked out. Requests for a search may be made in person or by telephone. A library card number is required to perform the search.

Please note the following:

  • Searches will be made at least once a week for four weeks from the date the search is requested.
  • Library users retain their same user privileges during the four-week search period.
  • If the item or items that the user claims to have returned or never to have checked out are not located during the four-week search period, the items will be considered lost and the user becomes responsible for the appropriate charges.
