Located next to a lake in beautiful Cesar Chavez Park, Cesar Chavez Library is a regional branch library serving the communities of Laveen and South Mountain. The facility's floorplan, narrowing at its center like an hourglass, allows customers to find the central service desk easily. The curves of the building are a direct response to the powerful geometry of the nearby lake. The wing-like roof is a reminder of the historical importance of the flowering fields in Laveen.
This library features a children's story room, a First Five Years/Los Primeros Cinco AƱos interactive learning space for families with young children, R3 - a special "teen only" area, a computer training lab, WiFi, and Internet-accessible public computers. The library's collection includes "Best Picks" - a selection of popular movies and bestselling books, as well as a collection of newspapers, books, DVDs and CDs designed to meet community members' educational and recreational needs. A multi-purpose room for community meetings as well as library programs seats 75.
