Directions Cholla Library is located on Metro Parkway (the inner loop of Metrocenter Mall) just south of Peoria Avenue and west of the I-17 freeway. Please see the Valley Metro website for public transportation routes serving the library.
Facilities Size: 30,000 square feet on two levels with over 100,000 volumesOpened: Originally opened in 1975, enlarged and remodeled in 1990 Total Items in Collection: 121,961 Total # of Public PCs with Internet: 33 Cholla Library's architectural features include massive cement walls, a Quonset-style corrugated metal roof, and bright yellow shelving with red accents. A yellow brick road in the lobby directs customers to self-check stations. Xeriscaping has been used to accent areas around the building. The second floor features a multi-purpose room for community meetings as well as library programs, Teen Universe - a special "teen only" area, Spanish-language materials collection, adult nonfiction, Internet-accessible public computers, magazines and newspapers, and a print enlarger for the visually impaired. WiFi is available throughout the library. Public Art "Language of Light" kinetic light sculpture by Joseph McShane - commissioned by the Phoenix Arts Commission.
