Film Noir

The term film noir, French for "black film," was a cinematic term used for films of the crime drama style in 1940s and 1950s Hollywood. The downplayed black and white cinematography was inspired by the German Expressionist style of the time and both the genre's style and tropes have lived on, either in homage (the neo-noir films of the late 19th century and beyond) or in parody. Take in one or more of the genre's original masterpieces.
