It's easy to start using Greater Phoenix Digital Library

Getting Started

You'll need your Phoenix Public Library card and a computer or device with an Internet connection. Don't have a library card? Get one today. Learn all about using Greater Phoenix Digital Library with your device here. ​

 
When you are signing into your account, you will enter your library card number and password. This is the password connected to your library card account - read more. Be sure to sign in first to see everything that is available to you as a Phoenix Public Library cardholder.

 

Check Out, Place Holds and Access Titles from the Phoenix Public Library catalog!

Browse & Check Out in the Greater Phoenix Digital Library

  • Browse or search for a title. Once you have made your selection, click "Borrow."
  • Borrowed titles will appear on your Loans under your Account.
  • Each cardholder may check out up to 10 titles at a time.

Checkout Periods

You may use the default lending periods for each format, or choose a lending period within that format. The default lending periods are listed in bold.

  • eBooks: 7 days/14 days
  • Audiobooks: 7 days/14 days
  • Streaming videos: 3 days/5 days/7 days

​3 Ways to Read, Listen or Watch from the Greater Phoenix Digital Library

Android, iOS, or Windows 10 devices

New customers should check out the new Libby app.

Using a tablet, smartphone or mobile device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Android or Windows 10 phone or tablet):

  • Go to the Apple App, Google Play, Windows stores to download the free Libby app.
  • Use the app's Add a Library feature to find and save Phoenix Public Library’s OverDrive site.
  • Once in the app, click "Sign In" and choose "Phoenix Public Library." Enter your library card number and password. This is the password connected​ to your library card account - read more​.

Windows or Mac computer

Customers who enjoy listening, reading or watching from their computer browser can do so right from the Greater Phoenix Digital Library platform.

To Read, Listen or Watch in your internet browser:  

To use your borrowed titles without an app or software, you'll need to choose "READ IN BROWSER" for eBooks, "LISTEN IN BROWSER" for eAudiobooks or "WATCH NOW" for eVideos. The title will open directly in your browser.​ Be sure your browser will allow pop-ups​. Click here​ for more info. 

Kindle Fire, Windows 8, or Chromebook

The original OverDrive App is for you.

As well as any of our Android, iOs or Windows 10 customers who wish to keep on using the OverDrive app for now.

  • Go to the Amazon App, Chrome Web, or Windows stores to download the free OverDrive App.
  • Open the OverDrive app and follow the prompts to sign in (or sign up) using your library card.
  • Once in the app, choose "Phoenix Public Library." Enter your library card number and password. This is the password connected​ to your library card account - read more​.

Kindle eReaders

Customers can borrow Kindle Books from the Greater Phoenix Digital Library platform and deliver them wirelessly to a Kindle eReader.

eCard Accounts

​​Don't have a Phoenix Public Library card?

If you don't have a library card or can't get in to obtain a library card you can use our online registration form to get one that will give you immediate access to everything in our eLibrary.

 

Have you changed your eCard to a regular Library Card?

You will need to merge your eCard and library card accounts to retain access to any borrowed items or holds.  To merge your accounts,contact Overdrive​ via email with both card numbers.  If you do not have both card numbers, contact Library Staff.​ ​​
