Foundations and Grants Collection
 
 

Phoenix Public Library's Burton Barr Central Library is a cooperating collection of The Foundation Center in New York City. Information on over 95,000 active U.S. private foundations and corporate donors and 1.3 million grants can be found in the Foundation and Grants Collection.

In addition to the Foundation Center materials, the collection also includes information on government funding programs and a variety of books on related topics such as proposal writing, fundraising and nonprofit management.

The Foundation and Grants reference collection is located on the second floor of the Burton Barr Central Library and is non-circulating. Additional circulating materials are located on the fifth floor.

Electronic Databases

  • Foundation Directory Online Platinum  (Burton Barr Central Library use only) - offers extensive program details for leading foundations, application guidelines, and sponsoring company information for corporate givers.
  • Foundation Grants to Individuals Online (Burton Barr Central Library Use Only) - contains more than 7,000 foundation and public charity programs funding students, artists, researchers, and other individual grantseekers.
  • Arizona Guide to Grants and Giving (Burton Barr Central Library Use Only) - Arizona's premier directory of corporate and foundation resources for Arizona grantseekers.

Print Publications

·          Foundation Directory: features key facts on the nation's top 10,000 foundations.

·          Foundation Center's Guide to Proposal Writing: provides detailed instructions on preparing successful proposals including pre-proposal planning tips, components of the proposal, and guidance from grantmakers. Incorporating the results of 40 interviews with grantmakers across the nation, the Guide reveals their priorities in reviewing submissions and provides insight into what makes a winning proposal.

·          Foundation Fundamentals: an introduction to the world of foundations and the full array of electronic and print resources available to help grantseekers develop prospect lists.

·          Foundation 1000: presents users with detailed program area descriptions and application information of the top 1000 foundations.

·          Guide to Funding for International and Foreign Programs: over 1,900 descriptions of grantmakers that support international relief, conferences, disaster assistance, human rights, civil liberties, community development, education, and more.

·          Guide to U.S. Foundations, Their Trustees, Officers, and Donors: provides data on active grantmaking foundations and the individuals who run them.

·          National Directory of Corporate Giving: features the most comprehensive information available to find grants from over 4,100 companies; includes samples of more than 9,000 grants.

·          Foundation Grants to Individuals: over 7,000 entries packed with current information on foundations that award grants directly to individuals.
