A 10-year old boy befriends a creature from another planet that has been stranded on earth.

The 20th anniversary edition includes improved visual effects and animation, and adds six minutes of scenes cut from the 1982 release. The 20th anniversary edition recording is from its premiere at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and the musical soundtrack is provided by a live orchestra conducted by John Williams, in front of a live audience.
