Summary:
A coming-of-age story about a boy growing up in Astoria, N.Y., during the 1980s. As his friends end up dead, on drugs or in prison, he comes to believe he has been saved from their fate by various so-called saints. He goes back home after fifteen years when he finds out that his father is ill. There he finds old friends, lost friends, and new relationships as he comes to term with his father's rage and love.
