A Love Affair with the Grand Canyon
 
Lasting Light: 125 Years of Grand Canyon Photography
 
Phoenix Public Library will host the national debut of "Lasting Light: 125 Years of Grand Canyon Photography" Jan. 10 - March 29, 2009. Covering nearly 125 years of photographic history, the exhibit features 60 photographs by a host of well-known photographers.

Lasting Light: 125 Years of Grand Canyon Photography was created by the Grand Canyon Association and organized for travel by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service. The exhibit is sponsored locally by the Phoenix Public Library Foundation with media support from Arizona Highways Magazine.

Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Jack Dykinga will discuss his most recent book Images: Jack Dykinga's Grand Canyon.

Dykinga blends large-format landscape photography with documentary photojournalism. His work is driven by his passionate advocacy for preservation of the natural world. He is a regular contributor to Arizona Highways and National Geographic. He has produced nine books of photographs and Large Format Nature Photography, a how-to guide on color landscape photography.
