Burton Barr Central Library hosts two photo exhibits, "The Many Splendors of Taiwan" and "Taiwan Plugging into the World," in the second floor reading room. The exhibits are free and open to the public. An official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 12. Hands-on activities for children and adults will showcase the beauty of Taiwanese culture and folk arts.
"The Many Splendors of Taiwan" highlights the folk customs of the Taiwanese people. "Taiwan Plugging into the World" provides insight into the development of new technologies that have propelled Taiwan from an agrarian past into one of Asia's most advanced e-economies. The exhibits celebrate the 33-year sister city relationship between Taipei, Taiwan and Phoenix. They are coordinated by the Phoenix Sister Cities Taipei Committee and the Arizona Chinese Mandarin and Culture Academy, and presented by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, Press Division.
