Vital Voices: Stories and Storytelling is facilitated by Fatima Halim, an acclaimed storyteller and story developer originally from New York. Presently she works to help cultivate the stories of Phoenix youth. On October 18th, she will lead us through a discussion on what storytelling is, and how it is vital to our modern everyday lives. Whether it is a story told by a mother to soothe a child, a theatre performance, or legends passed down over generations that give us a taste of ancient cultures, stories are all around us. Stories are found on television, on Van Buren, in super markets, park benches, and bus stops. Stories are perhaps the element of humanity that unites us all. Vital Voices is a collaboration between ASU's Project Humanities, Performance in the Borderlands, community organization Savvy Pen Consultants, and the Phoenix Public Library.
