Interlibrary Loan FAQ's - Using ILLiad

How do I place a request using ILLiad?
Requests can be placed anytime on the Phoenix Public Library website (www.phxlib.org), from your home or office or at your local Phoenix Public Library. Simply select "Interlibrary Loan" from the "Select a Shortcut" drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the screen. Then log into your interlibrary loan account using your library card number and last name. If you do not already have an account, click on the "First Time Users" link to complete the quick and easy registration form.

After logging in, you will see the Illiad Main Menu screen. Under "Requests," click on the type of item you would like to request; book, photocopy, video, etc. This will take you to the appropriate request form. Just fill it out the request form, making sure to include information in the "Required" fields, and submit.

You always have the option of calling the Interlibrary Loan office, Monday through Friday, between 10am and 5pm, at (602) 262-6066, if you have any questions or if you would like us to place your request.

Will the check out period for interlibrary loan items still be two weeks?
With ILLiad, patrons may keep their materials checked out longer than the current two week loan period. ILLiad automatically calculates the due date based on the due date assigned by the loaning library, which varies. This means that you could pick up two interlibrary loan items on the same day and each item would have a different due date. Each item will have the due date printed clearly on the white book strap.

If you still need to use the item longer that the original loan period, please call Interlibrary Loan (602) 262-6066, for assistance, Monday through Friday, 10am - 5pm.

How can I check the status of my interlibrary loan requests?
You can check the status of your interlibrary loan requests at anytime on the Phoenix Public Library website (www.phxlib.org), from your home or office or at your local Phoenix Public Library. Simply click the link to Interlibrary Loan which is located on the left side of the screen of the Library's website. Then log into your interlibrary loan account using your library card number and last name. Select "Review my Requests" from the ILLiad Main Menu screen.

You can also call Interlibrary Loan to check the status of your requests, Monday through Friday, between 10am and 5pm, at (602) 262-6066.

Important: You will only see the status of the interlibrary loan requests placed using the new ILLiad software. Please call the Interlibrary Loan office (602)262-6066 to check on the status of requests placed before July 13, 2005.

How will I be notified that my materials are ready for pick up?
When you set up your Interlibrary Loan account, you will be asked how you prefer to receive notification from Interlibrary Loan. You have the option of being notified by email, by phone or by mail.

How do I submit interlibrary loan requests from WorldCat and ArticleFirst?
OCLC FirstSearch WorldCat and ArticleFirst will now have a "Request" button that will display in each record. If you would like to request that item through interlibrary loan, click the "Request" button. This will take you to the Interlibrary Loan - ILLiad login screen. After you enter your library card number and last name to logon, you will see a request form with all the information filled out from the record in WorldCat or ArticleFirst. All you have to do is click on the "Submit" button.

When you are logged on to your interlibrary loan account, you will find links to WorldCat and ArticleFirst on the ILLiad Main Menu page, under "Search Databases to Find Items."

If you ever have any questions about this process, we encourage you to contact Interlibrary Loan (602)262-6066, Monday through Friday, 10am - 5pm.
