ABOUT THE EVENT:
The library will celebrate the completion of construction of the SolarWing covered parking solar panels at Burton Barr Central Library with a green ribbon-cutting ceremony. The project is composed of 42 SolarWings, each covering two parking spaces for a total of 84 covered parking spaces with lighting at night. Under optimum conditions, it is capable of providing 148.05 kW DC of power for the library.

The $1.3 million project is funded by an Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The project was constructed by SKY Renewable Energy.
