At this free event, readers of all ages will learn how to download eBooks, audiobooks, music and videos from the library through interactive demonstrations and high-definition instructional videos. A gadget gallery--featuring Kindle, iPod touch, Android tablet, NOOK, Sony Reader, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, and more--will help visitors discover portable devices that are compatible with the library's download service.
The Digital Bookmobile is housed inside an 18-wheel tractor-trailer. The 74-foot community outreach vehicle is a high-tech update of the traditional bookmobile that has served communities for decades.
It is equipped with broadband Internet-connected PCs, high definition monitors, premium sound systems, and a variety of portable media players to help visitors explore the library's downloadable collection. Interactive learning stations give visitors an opportunity to search the library's digital media collection, use supported mobile devices, and sample digital materials.
The library offers more than 61,000 titles in its digital media collection. Customers can access the collection through the library's website round-the-clock with a valid library card, Internet-accessible computer and free software for the computer and/or device being used.
OverDrive is a full-service digital distributor of eBooks, audiobooks, music and video that helps the library manage its digital collection.
