Phoenix Public Library, Phoenix, AZ. -- March 14, 2012 -- Burton Barr Central Library, 1221 N. Central Ave., presents a family literacy event - "Love to Read AZ" - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 24.

The free event celebrates reading and includes a storytime, face-painting, crafts, train rides and a photo booth. BookBreath - the library's children's program mascot, Curious George and BookMan will meet and greet children and their families. Parents are welcome to bring cameras to take fun photos.

Councilman Michael Nowakowski will lead a parade of participants from the children's area to the auditorium for a performance by the Great Arizona Puppet Theater.

Families attending the event can enter a drawing to win one of two prizes: a Kinect for Xbox 360 or a NOOK Color. Library staff, early literacy specialists and other community organizations will also be available to talk with parents about raising successful readers.

The event is sponsored by Bookmans Entertainment Exchange with additional support from the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library.
