Working in either oil or watercolor, Allemann paints contemporary musicians in an abstracted style and vivid color. Brownley's fondness for blues music is reflected in her folk art portraits of noted blues musicians such as Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters. A classically trained musician, Townsend employs an impressionistic point of view and bold color combinations to create her distinctively styled oil paintings.
