Phoenix Public Library, Phoenix, AZ. -- March 28, 2012 -- Burton Barr Central Library will host an exhibit of paintings by Anne Allemann, Jill Brownley and Jesa Townsend, titled "In Tune: Art + Music," March 29 - May 31 at the library's @Central Gallery, 1221 N. Central Ave.

For this group exhibition, the three artists took their inspiration from the world of music, each depicting the subject from their unique point of view. (Click here for high resolution images.)

Working in either oil or watercolor, Allemann paints contemporary musicians in an abstracted style and vivid color. Brownley's fondness for blues music is reflected in her folk art portraits of noted blues musicians such as Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters. A classically trained musician, Townsend employs an impressionistic point of view and bold color combinations to create her distinctively styled oil paintings.
