"We Read" Kicks Off Jan. 14 at Phoenix Public Library Subscribe to the Phoenix Public Library Press Release RSS Feed
Phoenix Public Library, Phoenix, AZ. -- January 08, 2013 -- Phoenix Public Library's annual family winter reading program, "We Read @ Phoenix Public Library," kicks off Monday, Jan. 14 and runs through Saturday, March 2 at all library locations.

Children up to 12 years old are eligible to participate in the program and earn prizes by reading or listening to books. Every child who completes the program will receive a "We Read" t-shirt. The program is designed to encourage families to read together.

Two new features of the program this year are "The Great Stuffed Animal Sleepover" and program-end tie-dye parties. For "The Great Stuffed Animal Sleepover," children are invited to visit the library for a special evening storytime and drop off their favorite stuffed animal. The treasured toys will stay in the care of librarians overnight - with a full report to their owners the next day of all the activities that took place. "The Great Stuffed Animal Sleepover" takes place at select library locations in January and February.

Select library locations will also celebrate the end of the program in March with a program during which children can tie-dye their "We Read" t-shirts. For additional information, call 602-262-4636 or visit phoenixpubliclibrary.org.

"We Read @ Phoenix Public Library" is supported by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
