Phoenix Public Library Exhibits "Inner Sanctum" May 1 - June 28
Phoenix Public Library, Phoenix, AZ. --
April 10, 2009 --
Burton Barr Central Library will host an exhibit by Kiyomi King, titled "Inner Sanctum," May 1 - June 28 at the library's @Central Gallery, 1221 N. Central Ave.
A free artist reception, hosted by the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library, will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 1 during the First Friday art walk. The exhibit features watercolor, acrylic and mixed media paintings, and furniture detailed with King's art. Inspired by memories of her childhood in Tokyo, her work is complex, vibrant and imaginative. "All of my work carries happy thoughts because I believe happy artwork possesses uplifting power that we long for, especially in this increasingly difficult world," said King. King designed the library's new card which debuted in January 2009 and reflects the library's tagline, "Yours to Explore." In appreciation for King donating her design, the library is hosting this exhibit of her work. Phoenix Public Library is a system of 14 branch libraries and the Burton Barr Central Library.
