Phoenix Public Library, Phoenix, AZ. -- April 15, 2009 -- Phoenix Public Library offers the community great value especially during these difficult economic times. Here are 10 things you may not know about the library:

1. GO GREEN. Borrowing books, instead of buying them, is a terrific way to reuse, reduce and save you "green." Visit www.phoenixpubliclibrary.org and check out all the fabulous titles the library has to offer.

2. LISTEN UP. No time to read? No problem. Audiobooks can be checked out and transferred to a wide variety of devices including the iPod, iPhone and iPod Touch. And, you can download from home.

3. BE VIRTUAL. The library offers customers 24/7 at-home access to excellent databases for kids, teens, students and adults. The best part is, it's all free. All you need is a library card and a home computer with Internet service.

4. CONNECT UP. All 15 Phoenix Public Library locations can accommodate your Wi-Fi needs. No laptop? Use one of the library's public computers.

5. DOWNLOAD. Save money by checking out DVDs and CDs. You can also download and watch classic movies, IMAX films and some of your favorite PBS documentaries on eFlicks.

6. BOOK MEETINGS. Need a convenient location for your next club or business meeting? Call (602) 262-4636 to find out more about the low-cost spaces available at all locations.

7. PAY FINES. Short on time, but need to pay off your overdue charges? It's so easy to visit phoenixpubliclibrary.org and pay online.

8. PARLEZ VOUS? Traveling abroad and want to learn a new language? Try Auralog Tell Me More and study any of the six languages offered. It's free!

9. TEST YOURSELF. Prep for a test without even leaving home. Check out LearningExpress Library remotely for study preparation and complete practice exams for the GED, SAT or TOEFL.

10. GET CARDED. Phoenix Public Library cards are available free to all Maricopa County residents. You can pre-register for a library card by filling out an online form, then just stop by any location and pick up your card. Proof of identification is required. You can also stop by any location and fill out a library card application.
