Phoenix Public Library Celebrates Opening of Harmon Library Sept. 12

The public is invited to attend the grand opening celebration for Harmon Library at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at 1325 S. 5th Ave.
Councilman Michael Johnson and Library Advisory Board Chair Rosemary Ybarra-Hernandez will officially open the building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by free activities for the whole family. Harmon Library was originally built in 1950 and is Phoenix Public Library's first branch facility. The new 12,300-square-foot facility features a children's story room, community meeting room, teen space, wireless Internet access, study rooms, more than 25 computers for public use, patio spaces and a new collection of newspapers and magazines, books, DVDs and CDs. (click to view photos) The library, designed by richärd + bauer, llc., is funded through the 2006 Citizens Bond Program.
