Here I am : the story of Tim Hetherington, war photographer
            by Huffman, Alan.

Tim Hetherington (1970-2011), one of the worlds most distinguished and dedicated contemporary photojournalists, was killed while covering the Libyan Civil War. This book is a compelling portrait of Hetheringtons life and career, exploring the risks, challenges, and thrills of contemporary war photography. Hetheringtons dedication to his career led him time after time into war zones, and, unlike some other journalists, he did not pack up after the story had broken. In 2003, after the Liberian civil war ended, Hetherington stayed in the country for three years, helping the United Nations track down human rights criminals. He was profoundly interested in the relationship between young men and war, and the feedback loop that images of war create: many young soldiers he encountered seemed to be emulating the images of warriors theyd seen in photos and on television. Hetherington continued his investigation of this theme in Libya, where he travelled to the most dangerous part of the frontline on what would be his final assignment. Only his photographs and video footage survived. This book is a testament to the tireless work of Hetherington and photographers like him, people who risk--and sometimes lose--their lives in order to give a voice to those devastated by conflict.--From publisher description.

Macro and close-up photography isnt all about the equipment. In fact, most DLSR users that love to shoot close-up do not even have a Macro lens. This type of photography does, however, involve a unique set of challenges and skills. The composition and lighting are key elements of shooting something close-up. Done right, a photographer can make the most extraordinary photo out of something common without being too complex. This author shows you how to achieve stunning and creative results without overloading the reader with too much technical info--

A consummate photojournalist, Stanley Tretick was sent by United Press International to follow the Kennedy campaign of 1960. The photographer soon befriended the candidate and took many of JFKs best pictures during this time. When Kennedy took office, Tretick was given extensive access to the White House, and the picture magazine Look hired him to cover the president and his family. Tretick is best known today for the photographs he took of President Kennedy relaxing with his children. His photographs helped define the American family of the early sixties and lent Kennedy an endearing credibility that greatly contributed to his popularity. Accompanied by an insightful, heartwarming essay from Kitty Kelley, Treticks close friend, about the relationship between the photographer and JFK, Capturing Camelot includes some of the most memorable images of Americas Camelot and brings to life the uniquely hopeful historical era from which it emerged.

Thanks to the photographic output of a small squadron of interplanetary spacecraft, we have awakened to the beauty and splendor of the solar system. Since Michael Bensons masterful book Beyond: Visions of the Interplanetary Probes, new, more powerful cameras in probes with greatly improved maneuverability have traversed the wheeling satellites of Jupiter; roamed the boulder-strewn red deserts of Mars; studied Saturns immaculate rings; and shown us our own ravishing Earth, a blue-white orb with a disturbingly thin atmosphere, as it plunges deeper into ecological crisis. These new images are the subject of Bensons Planetfall, a truly revelatory book that uses its large page size to reproduce the greatest achievements in contemporary planetary photography as never before--Provided by publisher.

Photographer Todd Selby is back, this time focusing his lens on the kitchens, gardens, homes, and restaurants of more than 40 of the most creative and dynamic figures working in the culinary world today. He takes us behind the scenes with Noma chef Ren Redzepi in Copenhagen; to Tokyo to have a slice with pizza maker Susumu Kakinuma; and up a hilltop to dine at an inn without an innkeeper in Valdobbiadene. Each profile is accompanied by watercolor illustrations and a handwritten questionnaire, which includes a signature recipe. Reveling in the pleasures of a taco at the beach, foraging for wild herbs, and the art of the perfectly cured olive, Selby captures the food we love to eat and the people who passionately grow, cook, pour, and serve these incredible edibles every day--
