Abbey Road to Ziggy Stardust shares the intimate memories of Ken Scotts days working with some of the most important artists of the 20th century while crafting a sound that has influenced several generations of music makers. Kens work has left an indelible mark on hundreds of millions of fans with his skilled contributions to Magical Mystery Tour and The White Album, and as a producer and/or engineer of six David Bowie albums (including the groundbreaking Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars), as well as other timeless classics from a whos-who of classic rock and jazz acts, including Elton John, Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck, Duran Duran, The Rolling Stones, Lou Reed, America, Devo, Kansas, The Tubes, Missing Persons, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Billy Cobham, Dixie Dregs, and Stanley Clarke. Funny, poignant, and oh, so honest, Ken pulls no punches as he tells it as he saw it, as corroborated by a host of famous and not-so famous guests who were there as well.
O.J. is innocent and I can prove it! : the shocking truth about the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman

Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman were brutally murdered at Nicoles home on Bundy Drive in Brentwood, California, on the night of June 12, 1994. The weeks and months that followed were full of spectacle, including a much-watched car chase and the eventual arrest of O.J. Simpson for the murders. The televised trial that followed was unlike any that the nation had ever seen. Long convinced of O.J.s guilt, the world was shocked when the jury of the trial of the century read the verdict of not guilty. To this day, the LAPD, Los Angeles District Attorneys office, mainstream media, and much of the world at large remain firmly convinced that O.J. Simpson literally got away with murder. According to the author, a private investigator, it is precisely this assuredness that has led both the police and public to overlook a far more likely suspect. He now compiles more than sixteen years of investigation by his team of forensic experts and presents evidence that O.J. was not the killer. In this book he makes the controversial but compelling case that it was, in fact, the overlooked suspect, O.J.s eldest son Jason, who committed the grisly murders.

By landing the role of J.J. Evans on Good Times, Walker became an icon of the 70s and beyond.

True Colors, Jana Harriss first broodmare, was more than Harris bargained for: a complex, traumatized animal whose outsized personality would transform everyone around her, both human and equine. When she arrived at Harriss farm, she was in dire shape, having survived a range fire. She was terrified, and her will to escape was enormous. In Horses Never Lie About Love, Harris lyrically recounts how this wounded, implacable beast nevertheless held a magical influence over the other horses of the ranch, and how she eased into the role of mother after having a foal. In time she became the heart of the ranch. Now 33 years old, she is a presence without whom the other horses cannot sleep at night, and whose quiet wisdom transmits strength of character that transcends the thin line between animals and the humans they love.

Horses never lie about love : the heartwarming story of a remarkable horse who changed the world around her
            by Harris, Jana, 1947-

When the author moved with her husband to Washington State for a teaching job, she realized that she could also fulfill her lifelong dream of having a horse farm. And she knew the horse on whom she could build her dreams the minute she saw her on a ranch in the Eastern Mountains where a herd had been corralled to be sold: a beautiful, deep dark red colored mare known as a blood bay, standing about sixteen hands, with a pretty head with a white star and a narrow stripe that slid down her face to two black nostrils. Something about the way the mare guarded her handsome foal, a black two-month-old 200-pound colt, spoke to the author. The mare was named True Colors. But when True Colors was delivered to Harriss ranch three months later, she was unrecognizable. She had gone feral, run away, and been recaptured. Terrified of people, she was head-shy from the infected sores on her face and her lungs were damaged by smoke-induced pneumonia. She sensed demons hiding in everything from the scent of fabric softener on clothes to a gate in a fence. Her will to escape was enormous. This injured, traumatized horse existed between two worlds, wild and domesticated, and belonged to neither. But there were glimmers of hope: the other horses fell in love with her on sight, just as the author had. And true to her name and herself, True Colors would never pretend to be something she was not; with her wise, intuitive nature, she would end up changing the lives of everyone she encountered, animal and human. This is the story of this remarkable horse and the revelations about life and love that she gave the author over the course of their decades together. Now thirty-three years old, this complex, magnetic animal retains the outsize personality that transforms everyone around her, both human and equine. True Colors has grown to become the heart of the range and the farm, her quiet wisdom transmitting a strength of character that transcends the thin line between animals and the humans they love. There is a famous horsemans saying: A horse never lies about its pain. But maybe we should also consider: A horse never lies about love.

After the meteoric rise of The Beatles and the Liverpool beat explosion that followed, The Rolling Stones pioneered a grittier, blues-based rock n roll that was a complete contrast to the Mersey sound. The Rolling Stones have created the soundtrack for millions of lives. Over the last 45 years they have sold more than 200 million albums worldwide -- they have truly earned the title the greatest rock n roll band in the world. --Cover

With humor and elegance, Fletcher describes his growth from clueless adventurer to grizzled veteran of the worlds battlefields. His working philosophy of Get in, get close, get out, get a drink, put him repeatedly in harms way, but he never lost sight of why he did it. In a world obsessed with celebrities, leaders, and wealth, Fletcher took a different route: he focused on those left behind, those paying the price.
In Mistrial the century: a private diary of the jury system on trial, ex-juror Tracy Kennedy discloses what life was like for himself and his wife in the days leading up to the O.J. Simpson trial, and how it subsequently differed so much from their expectations. In an up close and personal style, Kennedy reveals what happened during the trial and sequestration, a sequestration that turned the lives of a normal, happily married couple into an emotional hell. Much focus is given to the Kennedys lives after Tracys eventual dismissal from the jury, delving into the immense psychological impact the Trial of the century has had on the couple and how they have chosen to deal with it. Finally, Mistrial of the century raises the thought-provoking question of who has suffered the most during this trial and why the answer points to the jurors and not the defendant O.J. Simpson.

In 1994, Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were brutally murdered at her home in Brentwood, California. O.J. Simpson was tried for the crime in a case that captured the attention of the American people, but was ultimately found not guilty of criminal charges. The victims families brought civil cases against Simpson, and he was found liable for willfully and wrongfully causing the deaths of Ron and Nicole by committing battery with malice and oppression. In 2006, HarperCollins announced the publication of a book in which O.J. Simpson told how he hypothetically would have committed the murders. In response to public outrage that Simpson stood to profit from these crimes, HarperCollins canceled the book. A Florida bankruptcy court awarded the rights to the Goldmans in August 2007 to partially satisfy the unpaid civil judgment, which has risen, with interest, to over $38 million. The Goldman family views this book as his confession, and has worked hard to ensure that the public will read this book and learn the truth. This is the original manuscript approved by O.J. Simpson, with up to 14,000 words of key additional commentary.--From publishers description.

In her entertaining and edifying New York times bestseller, acclaimed author Francine Prose invites you to sit by her side and take a guided tour of the tools and the tricks of the masters and discover why their work has endured. Written with passion, humor, and wisdom, Reading like a writer will inspire readers to return to literature with a fresh eye and an eager heart--to take pleasure in the long and magnificent sentences of Philip Roth and the breathtaking paragraphs of Isaac Babel; to look to John Le Carr for a lesson in how to advance plot through dialogue, and to Flannery OConnor for the cunning use of the telling detail. And, most importantly, she cautions readers to slow down and pay attention to words, the raw material out of which all literature is crafted.

Simpson trial. By day, he is a fixture at the lawyers, the journalists, the hangers-on, and even the judge. By night, he is courted by the most celebrated hosts, from Kirk Douglas to Heidi Fleiss, from Elizabeth Taylor to Nancy Reagan, who delight in the hottest news from the corridors of the courtroom. Bailey is one of Dominick Dunnes most familiar characters, now caught up in a national obsession with the Trial of the Century. Using real names and faces. Dunne interweaves fact and fiction, the story of both the notorious public trial and the private trials Gus endures as he faces his own mortality.

You may have even visited her restaurant to taste for yourself the down-home delicacies that made her famous, or even heard her Cinderella story (a single mom started a brown-bag lunch business with $200 and wound up with a thriving restaurant, a fairy-tale second marriage, and popular television shows), but you have never heard the intimate details of her often bumpy road to fame and fortune. She talks about long childhood summers; hard years living in the back of her fathers gas station; a high school social life of sleepovers, parties, cheerleading, and boys; and a difficult marriage. The death of her parents precipitated a debilitating agoraphobia that crippled her for years. But even when the going got tough, Paula never lost the good grace and sense of humor that would eventually help carry her to success and stardom.--From publisher description.

Born James Newell Osterberg Jr., Iggy Pop transcended life in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to become a member of the punk band the Stooges, earning the nickname the Godfather of Punk. He is one of the most riveting and reckless performers in music history, with a commitment to his art that is perilously total. But his personal life was often a shambles, as he struggled with drug addiction, mental illness, and the ever-problematic question of commercial success in the music world. That he is even alive today, let alone performing with undiminished energy, is a wonder. Biographer Trynka spent time with Iggys childhood friends, lovers, and fellow musicians, and has spoken to dozens of musicians who count Iggy as an influence, and portrays in detail Iggys relationship with his enigmatic friend and mentor David Bowie. He also interviewed Iggy himself. What emerges is a psychological study of a Jekyll/Hyde personality.--From publisher description.

Sometimes called Americas composer laureate, John Adams has proved to be that rare bird - an enduring, if often controversial, figure in contemporary art music. Although branded a minimalist early in his career, Adams has composed in many styles and forms, from opera, choral, and orchestral pieces to multimedia stage works and tape and electronic compositions. Here essays by leading music commentators and critics explore the Adams oeuvre with insights pro and con.--BOOK JACKET.
