Lantern slides of the Bartlett Heard Land and Cattle Company; Phoenix and the surrounding areas; the greater Southwest, particularly the Native Peoples and their cultures in Arizona and New Mexico; as well as images of their trip to Egypt and the Sudan. The collection also contains an assortment of slides from Mexico, Wyoming, the Mohave Indians of California, and the Plains peoples. Many of the slides of the Familys travels and the Heard ranch and surrounding lands were taken by the Heard family, then reproduced by commercial lantern slide companies. When known the slides taken by Heard are identified. Some photographs made by commercial photographers. These glass lantern slides were collected by the Heards between 1895 and 1930s.
