About Phoenix Public Library @ Park Central

This temporary facility will provide a selection of basic library services to Central Phoenix customers who have been without a local library location due to the interim closure of Burton Barr Central Library.

Phoenix Public Library @ Park Central is a little less than 2 miles from Burton Barr Central Library.

This space is nearly 30,000 square feet, with spacious and free parking, a nearby coffee shop and restaurants.

Because Park Central Mall is located along the light rail it provides a location in which library customers without transportation can easily access.  This includes a large contingent of teens who attend surrounding schools and traditionally have used Burton Barr Central Library during out-of-school time, and central Phoenix residents that almost exclusively rely upon the library for access to computers and the internet.

Thousands of Library Materials

Access to a selection of library materials to check out with an emphasis on our most popular items including books for adults, children and teens, audiobooks, movies, magazines and newspapers.  The collections provide support for early literacy development, research, homework, and leisure reading.

Technology Access

Public computers with access to the internet for customers to use for research, job searching and applications, filing and printing of documents, etc.

Special Children's Programs

Weekly early literacy programming including story-time, Kindergarten Bootcamp, Preschool Prep, and CodePHX.  These programs encourage early learning and reading skills and teach parents how to provide activities for their children that prepare them for reading, and success in school.

Teens - Help & Hangout

Afterschool homework help, CodePHX programs for teens.  Many teens in the area come to Burton Barr after school to do homework, use computers and participate in learning activities in a safe environment.

In addition to these fundamental library services, occasional other programs such as job assistance, small business development, and college access, etc.
