The Heard Museum believes that nothing can fully replace an in-person visit to a museum, to see and experience art, other works of Indigenous creation, and exhibitions up close and personal. However due to time, budget, distance and yes, social distancing the Heard Museum is not always accessible to the visiting public. The Heard Museum team has pulled together some resources for you to help engage with American Indian art and culture in the comfort of your own home and on your schedule. Check the museum's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages regularly for images and descriptions of various works. Saturday Storytimes are still taking place and are available to watch on their profiles, including YouTube. Kids can also flex their creativity with "art at home" activities.

Missing the creatures at the Phoenix Zoo? Turns out, according to their caregivers, they might miss you, too. During its closure, the zoo is interacting with visitors online through digital safaris on Facebook Live, which offer educational programming, trail walk-alongs and behind-the-scenes insights. To catch up on the past few weeks, check the roundup of previous tours, which include a look at stingrays, Mexican gray wolves, giraffes and orangutans.

Online exhibits: “Have Passport – Will Travel,” "In Celebration of Women" and "Candid"

Three exhibitions featuring works by Arizona artists are available to view in a 360-degree virtual tour. “Have Passport – Will Travel” features the work of Paula Cullison. See the multimedia works of 30 female artists, whose subjects include Malala Yousafzai, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Persian women heroes, in the "In Celebration of Women" exhibit. The exhibit "Candid" features 16 Arizona artists and can also be toured online.

There are live cams of the deep ocean exhibit, shark exhibit and sea lion exhibit. The deep ocean exhibit features six shark species, three species of rays and two green sea turtles. Four shark species, included sandbar sharks, sand tiger sharks, lemon sharks and nurse sharks, can be spotted in the shark exhibit. A rotating cast of eight sea lions will take center stage at the sea lion exhibit.

The New Rijksmuseum

In 2003, the ambitious renovation of one of the world's greatest museums began. The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, home to glorious masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer and others, was supposed to reopen its doors in 2008 after five years of construction. But from the start the project was in trouble. The museum battled politicians, designers, curators and even the Dutch Cyclists Union as the workers struggled to complete the job. Five years later than expected, with costs exceeding half a billion dollars, the museum finally reopened.
