eBooks and eAudiobooks from the Best Picks Collection through Axis 360 are available for this service. Titles from the Greater Phoenix Digital Library including streaming video will also work this way.
To do so, you'll need to sign into your Library Account. (If you don't have a library card or can't get in to obtain a library card you can use our online registration form to get one that will give you immediate access to everything in our eLibrary.)

Once you are signed into your Library account, just follow these steps:

  • Look for the Axis 360or OverDrive icon
  • Find a title and choose either Place Hold or Check Out.
  • Digital Holds and borrowed eMaterials will appear in the list with your physical holds and borrowed materials.
  • The borrowing policy for each category remains the same. You can meet the maximum limits in all collections (all at the same time).
    • 10 items through the Greater Phoenix Digital Library
    • 3 titles on Axis 360
    • and 35 physical items from the Phoenix Public Library

After checking out an OverDrive item, you'll be prompted to choose your format. The options will vary depending on if you checked out an eBook or eAudiobook and which platform you used.  You can learn more about digital formats with OverDrive here. Once you have selected your format, the title will appear in your Loans on the Greater Phoenix Digital Library.

If you've chosen a title from Axis 360, you will be prompted to choose the length of the check out period, up to 14 days. Once you have tapped the Check Out button, the title will appear in your account on Axis 360. Look for the My Stuff section of the website or app where you will see a list of currently checked out titles. You can read your title in the mobile app, or in the Desktop Reader.

Please note, titles from Axis 360 follow the Best Picks model and therefore are not available to be placed on hold. The library is aware that the option to place a hold is given when all copies of a title are checked out on Axis 360. We are waiting for an update from the vendor.
The "Place Hold" button will not work for Axis 360 titles.

Use eBooks, eAudiobooks or eVideos without leaving the Library Catalog!
