The dictionary defines "streaming" as a method of transmitting or receiving data (especially video and audio material) over a computer network as a steady, continuous flow, allowing playback to proceed while subsequent data is being received.

Stream Music and Video


Choose from over ​​​​12,000 audiobooks, digital video (movies and TV shows), music, audiobooks, ebooks and comics​ to watch or listen to on your smartphone, tablet, or computer. Many titles available for instant streaming or temporary download, and automatic return eliminates all late fees. Learn more about Getting Started with hoopla.

Beginning December 10th, hoopla will be pushing out updates that may impact your ability to check out content. If you have any issues, please make sure your library card/account is up to date. You may submit a request online to renew your library card.


​Stream Music


Freegal is a music download and streaming service that allows each Phoenix Public Library card holder to download up to 5 songs per week in addition to streaming music up to 3 hours per day. Freegal also includes a rich and growing collection of music videos. These videos often have supplemental content that is not in the underlying song, and some of these videos are historical treasures. As a video is premium content, a video download will count as 2 of your weekly music selections. If you do not have 2 downloads left, you will not be able to download a video. Downloaded files from Freegal do not expire.

Stream Video 

Choose from over 100,000 eBooks, audiobooks, and videos (including TED presentations, children's content, and documentaries) to watch or listen to on your smartphone, tablet, or computer through the new Libby or original OverDrive app. Many titles available to read right in your browser or for temporary download, and automatic return eliminates all late fees. Stream Video 

The Kanopy collection offers a broad selection of more than 30,000 feature films, documentaries, foreign language, and training videos, including: the Criterion Collection, The Great Courses, the Frontline series, and international films. Verify you are a library patron by entering your library card number when creating an account and films can be watched from anywhere, anytime, on smartphones, tablets, PCs and smart TVs.
