Online High School for AdultsOnline High School for Adults<div class="ExternalClass9177725B443641B5844E21BC30B12F1F"><h2>Career Online High School</h2><p>Phoenix Public Library's (PPL) Career Online High School (COHS) offers an opportunit​y for adults in Phoenix to earn an accredited high school diploma and car​eer certificate online. Tuition waivers were made available through support from The Steele Foundation, Clinton Global Initiative, Phoenix Public Library Foundation, Freeport-McMoRan and Dollar General Literacy Foundation. There is no age limit!</li><li>Have completed at least the 8th grade</li></ul><p>Use this <a href="https://www.phoenix.gov/cityclerksite/Documents/CityLimitsMapBook20170106.pdf" target="_blank">City of Phoenix City Limits Map Book</a> if you are unsure of whether your address is within the Phoenix city limits.</p><p>Once Enrolled: </p><ul><li>COHS pairs each student with an online academic coach, who provides the student with an individual career path, offers ongoing guidance, evaluates performance and connects the student with the resources needed to master the courses.</li><li>Students can complete the program in as little as 5 months but will be permitted up to 18 months to graduate.</li><li>The amount of time it will take students to complete the COHS program depends on how many transferrable credits they have from previous high school(s). Students may have up to 14 credits transferred into the COHS program.</li><li>Transferrable credits include core classes such as English, Science, Math, and Social Studies classes. Begin the Enrollment Processhttps://www.phoenixpubliclibrary.org/Lists/AddOnContent/DispForm.aspx?ID=10Begin the Enrollment Process10<div class="ExternalClassA9889D3A867347D5BD3CDFFA2A9C5035"><h5><strong>Step One</strong><br></h5><ul><li>To begin the enrollment process, the first step is to complete the<strong> </strong>​<a href="https://phoenix.careeronlinehs.org/are-you-ready-survey/" target="_blank" style="text-decoration:underline;"><span style="color:#0000ff;"><strong>Are You Ready Survey</strong></span>​</a> ​to ​determine that you meet the basic requirements of the program.</li><li>The online application includes an essay submission of at least 250 words (3-5 paragraphs).<br></li><li>You will receive a response for your application via email and a phone call within 7-10 business days of submitting it.</li></ul><h5><strong>Step Two</strong></h5><ul><li>Complete a prerequisite course in two weeks or less. Once you complete your prerequisite course, you will be contacted to discuss your results.</li><li>If you score a 70% or higher, you will move onto the next step.</li><li>If you score below 70% or do not complete the prerequisite course within two weeks, you will be consulted with your other options.</li></ul><h5><strong>Step Three</strong></h5><ul><li>Participate in a final interview with College Depot staff.</li><li>You will be asked to bring your unofficial transcript(s) to the interview so your transferrable credits may be evaluated.</li></ul><h5><strong>Step Four</strong></h5><ul><li>Receive your tuition waiver and begin your next course.<br></li></ul>​<br></div>​<br>

This program offers free enrollment to a limited number of qualified adult students through a scholarship sponsorship. If a student is unable to meet the requirements for the Phoenix Public Library scholarship sponsorship program, it is possible to enroll directly into the Career Online High School.<br></div>

City of Phoenix employees are not required to live within Phoenix city limits to qualify for the program. PPL provides referrals to alternative education and GED programs for individuals who do not qualify for the program. Please call 602.261.8847 for more information. Program applicants must have a PPL library card or be willing to apply for one. Library cards are available free to Maricopa County residents. Visit any PPL location to complete a library card application.<br></div>

If a student successfully goes through every step of the application process and is accepted into the program, then the program is completely paid for by the Phoenix Public Library. If a student fails to meet the contract of requirements, log-on, participate and complete your courses within the required timeline, then the Phoenix Public Library reserves the right to revoke the student's scholarship.<br></div>

We advise you to check the email address that you provided in your application and to check your spam folder as well. If you have not been contacted within a week and a half, feel free to call us at 602-261-8847 or send us an email to college.depot@phoenix.gov to confirm if we’ve received your application and we will make sure to get back with you. <br></div>

Once you advance past the COHS application and enroll in the prerequisite course you will get an email that explains how to get unlimited access to the Phoenix Public Library computers. If you’d rather opt out of that option, you can log on and complete your courses anywhere you have access to a computer and the internet. Courses are not accessible on phones or tablets.<br></div>

Students accepted into the program may transfer up to 14 credits from their former high school. Depending on how many credits the student is able to transfer, the program can be completed in as few as five months. In order for a COHS graduate to continue on to an Arizona public university or a university outside of Arizona, they would first have to complete some coursework at a community college.<br></div>

Most of the academic coaches and academic instructors are located in Florida. Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm Central Time; however, coaches have evening hours twice a week and the hours will likely be expanded. The COHS academic coach will welcome the student and then continue reaching out at least once every two weeks – and more often as needed.<br></div>
