Holds lockers have a 72-hour pickup limit. Any holds with a requested Pickup Area of Outdoor Locker will be held there for 72 hours then moved indoors to the Hold Shelf for the remainder of your hold pickup time.

Always check your account to see where your hold is located before coming in to pick it up.

Holds Lockers are located outside the main entrance of most Phoenix Public Library locations, offering library customers 24/7, contact-free access to pick up library materials.

How do they work?

Choose a Library and Pickup Area

When placing a hold on your desired item(s) within your online account, you have a choice as to which library location you would like as a pickup location.

Next - and depending on the location - you will get to choose a Pickup Area under the Pickup Area dropdown menu:

Holds Shelf (inside, during operating hours) or
Outdoor Locker (outside, any time)

Confirm Pickup Area Before Picking Up Your Holds

If you have selected Outdoor Locker as your Pickup Area and the Outdoor Locker is full at the time your item(s) become available, your item(s) will automatically be placed on the Holds Shelf inside the building and will only be available during the library’s open hours.

When you’ve received notice that your item(s) are ready for pickup and before heading over to the library, check your account to confirm your Pickup Area.

Once you have been notified that your hold is ready for pickup in the outdoor Holds Locker, you will have 72 hours to pick it up there. After that, staff will relocate your hold to the indoor Hold Shelf for the remainder of your hold pickup time.

Checking Out is Easy at the Holds Locker

When arriving at the Holds Locker, you will scan or type your Phoenix Public Library card number, enter your password and the door of the locker in which your items are placed will open automatically.

Which Locations Have Active Holds Lockers?

Every Phoenix Public Library location offers holds lockers as a pickup option at this time with the exception of Cholla Library.
