Incorporate plenty of organic matter (compost, aged manure) into the soil before planting. Work the soil to a fine texture to a depth of at least 12 inches to prevent forked roots. Avoid freshly manured soil as it can cause misshapen roots. Plant Scarlet Nantes carrots in Arizona from late February/early March through late summer/early fall (mid-September through March). Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep. Sow seeds 1 inch apart in rows 12-18 inches apart.

Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during germination. Water deeply (6-8 inches) once or twice a week, depending on weather conditions. Avoid overwatering, as soggy soil can lead to root rot. Carrots need full sun (6-8 hours).

Harvest

Harvest carrots when they reach the desired size, typically 2-3 weeks after they reach maturity.
