Billing Billing <div class="ExternalClass7B3B4B4E0AA04CE4827297582C1C06B4"><p>At the onset of the COVID pandemic, Phoenix Public Library temporarily paused applying charges to accounts for long overdue, lost and/or damaged items as part of the library’s pandemic safety and customer service adjustments.<br></p><p><strong>Effective September 6, 2022</strong>, Phoenix Public Library will resume billing customers for the replacement value of long overdue, lost and/or damaged library items checked out on an account. An item is considered “long overdue” when it has not been returned more than 51 days from the day it was due. </p><p>Accounts with a balance of $25 or more may not check out or renew library items.</p><h3>What you need to know:</h3><ul><li><p>Library customers with checked out items that are long overdue, lost and/or damaged, and have provided Phoenix Public Library with an email address should receive an email with details.<br></p></li><li><p>Library customers can visit phoenixpubliclibrary.org to check their <a href="https://catalog.phoenixpubliclibrary.org/logon.aspx" target="_blank">My Account</a>. Your account will reflect the titles of the items checked out and due dates.<br></p></li><li><p>If your <a href="https://catalog.phoenixpubliclibrary.org/logon.aspx" target="_blank">My Account</a> reflects items in this status, please note that until billing is restored on September 6, 2022 or you contact library staff directly (see below), the dollar amounts reflected in your <a href="https://catalog.phoenixpubliclibrary.org/logon.aspx" target="_blank">My Account</a> will be $0.</p></li><li><p>For estimated dollar amounts owed and/or to pay before September 6, please reach out to us. You can reach us by calling our Call Center at 602-262-4636 (Monday & Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.), send us an email through <a href="/services/ask-us" target="_blank">Ask Us</a> or visit one of our <a href="/locations" target="_blank">17 locations</a>.</p></li><li><p>Return any overdue items. You will not be charged a replacement fee for items returned undamaged. Items can be returned to any <a href="/locations" target="_blank">Phoenix Public Library location​</a>, check the <a href="/locations" target="_blank">Hours and Locations page​</a> for addresses and hours of operation, and book drops are available 24/7.​​</p></li></ul></div>

Becoming a fine free library helps us further attain this goal.</p><p>Phoenix will be the first of the 5 largest U.S. cities to adopt a fine free program.</p><h3>What does this mean for me, the customer?</h3><ul><li>On November 18, Phoenix Public Library:</li><li>Forgave existing overdue fines</li><li>Eliminated charging overdue fines</li><li>Fees charged for lost items (Replacement Fee) has remained the same.</li></ul><h3>Timeline for a Checked Out Item:<br></h3><ul><li>3 days before item is due: Courtesy notice</li><li>3 days later: First overdue notice</li><li>10 days late: Second overdue notice</li><li>28 days late: Third overdue notice</li><li>51 days late: Bill issued for item replacement fee</li><li>Item returned after 50 days: Replacement fee waived<br><br></li></ul></div>
